Terms of use
check.asnap.io is an informational service provided free of charge during its beta. By using it you agree to the terms below.
1. Nature of the service
The service produces a report of indicators: passages that overlap with sources, sentences with features associated with machine-generated text, and reference entries that could or could not be matched to a record. The report is an aid to the author's or editor's own review. It is not a determination of originality, authorship, misconduct or compliance with any policy, and it should not be presented or relied upon as such.
2. Free beta
During the beta the service is free, limited to one check a day per browser and to texts of up to 2,000 words, and provided without any guarantee of availability, completeness of sources or continuity. No payment is accepted and no contract for paid services is formed through this site. Requests for a full check or a journal pilot are expressions of interest only.
3. Acceptable use
- Submit only text you are entitled to submit. Do not submit texts containing personal data of third parties beyond what a manuscript ordinarily contains.
- Do not use the service to prepare text to evade detection, or to make claims about another person's conduct.
- Do not attempt to circumvent the daily limits or to access reports other than by their links.
4. Reports and links
Reports are available by link for 30 days and then deleted together with the text. Anyone holding the link can open the report. You are responsible for whom you share it with.
5. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is", and we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of a report, for false or missed indicators, or for interruptions of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
6. Changes
These terms may change as the service leaves the beta. The date below shows the current version. Questions: [email protected]. See also the privacy notice.
