Privacy notice

This notice explains what check.asnap.io stores when you run a check or send a request, for how long, and how to have it removed.

Submitted texts and reports

The text you submit is sent to our screening engine for analysis and stored together with the resulting report for 30 days, so that the report link keeps working. After 30 days the text and the report are deleted automatically; only technical records without the text (date, modes used, word count, status) remain for service statistics.

Submitted texts are not added to any comparison database, are not used to train models and are not shared with other users. During analysis, short passages of the text are sent as search queries to scholarly databases (Crossref, OpenAlex) and web search services in order to locate candidate sources; the full text is not sent to those services.

Report links are unguessable and are not indexed by search engines. Anyone who has the link can open the report; do not share the link if the manuscript is confidential.

Cookies and limits

The site sets one first-party cookie with a random identifier to apply the daily limit of the free beta. It contains no personal data and is not used for advertising. The IP address is stored only as a one-way hash for the daily network limit. No third-party analytics scripts are loaded.

Requests and waitlist

When you request a full check or a journal pilot, we store the email address and the details you enter (manuscript length, type of work, journal, message). They are used only to respond to your request and to inform you when the requested service is available, and are deleted when the request is closed unless you ask to keep in touch.

Technical logs

Our servers keep technical logs (IP address, time, requested page) for security and reliability for a limited period. Requests pass through Cloudflare, which delivers the site and protects it from attacks.

Where data is processed

The service and its database run on servers in the European Union. We act as the controller of the data described above under the General Data Protection Regulation.

Your rights

You may ask for the text and report behind a link to be deleted before the 30 days expire, and for your request details to be accessed, corrected or deleted. Write to [email protected] with the report link or the email address you used.
